10 Weirdest Superstitious Beliefs
Are you a superstitious person? Well, yes most of us are. We might pretend ourselves to be the outer world in such a way that superstitions and myths are not our kind of thing. Indeed it is a more old fashioned way of behaving in a society. But the truth is we all have some weird beliefs, such as some of us are fond of the number ‘3’, some feel that a particular pen might be special for them. Superstitions are something which we tend to believe in even though we are not supposed to. “MYTHS” which bind our mental framework and our mind starts functioning according to that. Certain superstitious beliefs have a scientific base too. It’s just that people being unaware of the scientific cause label it under a superstition. There are certain bizarre or what we might call weird superstitions all across the world.
1. Evil Spirits Can't Harm You If You Stand Inside A Circle.

What does that actually mean? As far as it is understood, it signifies that each one of us should be walking with a hullahoop around us, so that the evil spirits do not even hover around us. Right? There seems to be hardly any connection between a circle and an evil spirit but still this has come up as one of the weird superstitions prevailing till date.
2. If Three People Are Photographed Together, The One In The Middle Will Die First.
Surprised? You must be thinking about the countless pictures you got clicked standing in the middle. And next time before clicking a picture, if it is not you then it might be someone else standing in the middle. In case if it helps in recovering something called ‘death’ then go for it. Also another thing we need to keep in mind is that, amongst various reasons which lead to death such as diseases and ageing, this is also a vital one, “the middle one in a picture”!
3. Never Give Gloves As A Present.
It brings bad luck if you drop a glove and then pick it yourself. It should be your lover who should come and pick it up for you. Never thought a simple pair of gloves could bring so much of complications! Also this belief dates back to the medieval times and hence falls into the list of weird superstitions in the world.
4. Eat Grapes At Midnight For Good Luck.

In Spain when the clock strikes twelve on New Year’s Eve, guess what the superstitious people do? No prayers, no offerings, no kisses. They eat twelve grapes which signify good luck for the twelve months. They believe in something like eating grapes and bringing luck. Certainly there lies no logic in it and hence we categorize this amongst the weird superstitious beliefs in this world.
5. The Number Of X's In The Palm Of Your Right Hand!

Ever noticed those cross lines on your palm? According to an old superstitious belief, the number of X’s on your palm is the number of children you’ll have. What if somebody has, 50 cross lines? Does it mean that person will have fifty children? That’s a tough deal.
6. Don't Chew Gum At Night!

In Turkey, people believe that if you chew gum at night you are actually chewing the flesh of the dead. So one should avoid doing that and either use some mouth spray or mouth wash kind of stuff at such hours. An odd belief which the Turkish follow even today.
7. Three Cigarettes Lit With The Same Match Brings Bad Luck.
After all it is the worst consequence that smoking can lead to. But what does this concept of lighting up three cigarettes with the same match mean. Well, it is beyond my understanding and the best way to resolve this problem is to stop smoking, so that it can keep you away from at least one kind of bad luck.
8. The Number "13"

It’s just a number. Yet people dread it like anything. Many big buildings do not have the number 13 on the lift button. Instead they name it as 12A or something of that sort but not 13. People also have a religious belief attached to this superstition. It is said that Judas, the bad disciple was the 13th man to sit down for the Last Supper.
9. An Angel Passes Over If There Is An Awkward Silence.
One would have hardly thought of this concept. Well, but there exists a belief which says that if there is an awkward silence in a conversation it means an angel is passing over. Dylan Thomas ‘Portrait of the artist’ features the line, “a host of angels must be passing by….what a silence it is”. Basically the thought that this awkward silence was because everybody had fallen short of topics!
10. A Knife As A Gift From Lover Means The Love Will End Soon.

Who does that? What happened to all those lovey dovey stuff like cards, chocolates and flowers? Giving a knife itself sounds so weird. Well, it’s a different case altogether if it is meant to kill him/her. That might mark a forever end. But that too shall happen in case your lover has turned your life into a complete hell which happens in most of the cases. However it too falls among one of the crazy and weird superstitions prevailing around.
