The world lost the most precious gem, Dr. Stephen Hawking. The genius 76-year-old scientist took his last breath on March 15, 2018. Dr. Stephan Hawking’s death came out after 5 decades, when the doctors told him that he only had two years to live.

Time and again, his theories, his discoveries has changed the way we look at space and time. But his life was way beyond his experiments and discoveries in the field of science.



1. Dr. Stephen Hawking was born on the death anniversary of Galileo and died on the birth anniversary of Einstein.

This is the major coincidence, Dr. Hawking was born on January 8th, 1942, on the 300th death anniversary of Galileo, who was also a genius scientist. Dr. Hawking died on March 15th, 2018, on the birth anniversary of the most genius scientist to have ever born, Albert Einstein.


2. Dr. Stephen was a mediocre student in school.

Dr. Stephen Hawking was not a born genius, he was a mediocre student in school. Even Stephen Hawking could not even read properly until he was 8-years-old.


3. Everyone in Stephen Hawking’s school used to call him ‘Einstein’.

Although, he was not good in studies but his classmates and friends used to call him ‘Einstein’ after he built a computer with his friends. Also everyone was shocked to learn about his knowledge on space and time.

7. Dr. Hawking made multiple appearances on the television screens.


The first time Stephen Hawking appeared on the television screen was, as an animated version of himself, for which he lent his own voice. Later, he was seen on Star Trek: Next Generation, where he was seen sharing jokes with Einstein and Newton. He also appeared in his own documentary shows Stephen Hawking: Master of the Universe and Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking.


8. Stephen Hawking once lost a bet on black holes.

Once Stephen Hawking made a bet on this with fellow scientists, on the black holes present in universe. He believed in the information that what goes inside a black hole gets destroyed after its evaporation but later came an ‘information paradox’ that said that this concept conflicts with the rules of quantum mechanics. Although, technically the bet is still on and the world is yet to discover if he won or lost.


9. Dr. Hawking has written books for kids.

This might took you with surprise but Stephen Hawking and his daughter collaborated to write ‘George’s Secret Key to the Universe’. The book is based on the life of a boy who like technology but his parents don’t. Stephen Hawking also wrote the sequel of this book.

Stephen Hawking’s book “A Brief History of Time” was a record-breaking bestseller and appeared on the British Sunday Times best-seller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks.


11. Dr. Hawking was never nominated for Nobel prize.

12. Stephen Hawking was made to experience zero gravity by scientists.
