Unknown Facts About Sridevi
Sridevi Boney Kapoor, left us all on the 25th of February, 2018 and she died due to cardiac arrest after attending a close relatives wedding. She stayed back in Dubai after the conclusion of wedding due to weakness and suddenly, suffered with a massive cardiac arrest and succumbed to it.
1. Sridevi was born on August 13, 1963 and was named Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan upon birth.
2. She debuted in Tamil movie at the age of 6. She first acted in 'Thunaivan' in 1969. She debuted in Tamil as a lead actress in 1976. In Telugu, in 1977 and in Hindi, in 1979. In all three languages, she acted in same role with same story.
3. Sridevi's father was a lawyer and her mother tongue is Telugu.
4. She lost her father during the shooting of Yash Chopra's Lamhe (1991) in London. She flew home for the last rites and returned to work to shoot a comedy sequence with co-star Anupam Kher. Such was her professionalism.
5. She started her career at the age of four in Thirumugham's devotional film, Thunaivan (1967).
6. She sang playbacks for films like Chandini, Sadma, Garajna, Kshnakshanam.
7. Out of the 54 years of her life, she has acted 50 years straight which is a rare thing in Indian movies.
8. Many do not know that Sridevi has acted as the granddaughter and love interest of legendary actor NTR.
9. Not many people know that Sridevi was down with 103 degrees fever, while shooting Chalbaaz's famous song 'Na Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai'.
10. She has won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress five times which is a record in itself.
11. Sridevi has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.
12. She made her Hindi film debut as a lead actress in Solva Sawan (1979), which was earlier done in Tamil and Telugu as well.

13. Sridevi got an offer to play in Jurassic Park, a Stephen Spielberg film, but she did not accept it as the role was that of a short one and she was busy with Bollywood films as a lead and felt it didn’t suit her stature at that time, as she was at the peak of her career.
14. Even though she was offered ‘Beta’ with Anil Kapoor, she refused the role citing that she had worked a lot with him already.
15. Sridevi spells her name as 'Sreedevi' but never pointed that to the filmmakers to change the spelling in the credits.
16. Sridevi dubbed for the first time in Hindi, for film Chandini. Before that she used to have Actress Naaz dub for her.
17. During her early days in Bollywood, Sridevi’s voice was also dubbed by yet another actress Rekha.
18. Sridevi had an intense rivalry with Jaya Pradha, her contemporary. They acted together in many films but never saw eye-to-eye. Even when Jeethendra, Rajesh Khanna and Sobhan Babu, tried to unite them, they never gave up on their ego.
19. Jaya Pradha was first considered for Nagina, but later it rolled on to Sridevi's kitty that made her a star in Hindi and Chandini that made her the superstar. It was also first offered to Rekha.
20. Sridevi was given a dual role in Baazigar. But, she was not casted as director thought that it would have overwhelmed the audience watching Shah Rukh Khan’s character ‘kill’ her on screen.
21. Having beauty and talent in abundance, Sridevi received several marriage proposals from wealthy American and British-born Indians.
22. Bollywood’s first female superstar Sridevi was the highest-paid Hindi film actress from 1985-1992.
23. In her life, Sridevi financially supported her mother, stepfather, sister and stepbrother.

25. Many do not know that Sridevi did not like celebrating her birthday and kept to herself on that date.

27. 13 year old Sridevi played Rajnikanth’s step mom in a Tamil movie "Moondru Mudichu".
28. She had named her two daughters as Jhanvi and Khushi, after the heroines in husband Boney Kapoor's films Judaai (1997) and Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000).
29. Sridevi and Salman Khan bonded over painting. Even though she stopped, it was only after ‘Wanted’, where Salman encouraged her, which is why she got back to painting. In fact her painting even went international with her painting ‘Thoughts’ accepted by a reputed international art auction house.
34. Sridevi has also produced ‘Shakti: The Power’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan. The actress was also supposed to act in the film, but she couldn’t since she was second time pregnant (with Khushi).
35. Sridevi was supposed to do a film with Gauri Shinde (probably ‘English Vinglish 2’) and reportedly even a TV show.
She leaves behind a legacy that is unique. Her talent was undeniable, her beauty unmatched and her ability to connect with the audience was legendary. We will always remember her as the elegance she was in her every adoring beauty we carry in our eyes.
