We have known so many inventions till date, which have made our lives easier and more comfortable. But, as we know this world is a symmetry. For every good, we have equal amount of bad. This is what we have jotted down for you. This article is about useless inventions.


1. The Parachute Jacket



In 1900, people were highly obsessed with flying objects. This obsession was on heights for a German inventor, Franz Reichelt. He made a parachute jacket. He tried to test this parachute he jumped from Eiffel tower. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out and Franz died.


2. Nintendo Virtual Boy



In 1995, a virtual play station named Nintendo Virtual Boy was invented. It promised a whole new level of gaming. But, it turned out to be a huge failure. It offered very low resolution.



The graphics were portrayed with red and black lights. It also made user to sit in an uncomfortable position. All these made this device a real dud. It was pulled back in less than a year. However, the virtual game devices we have now are worth spending money on.


3. Electric Facial Mask



By the name only, this device horrifies people. Although, this mask was advertised as: "whoever uses this would have a toned and young skin".




However, whoever wore this looked like a villain. Hence, this didn’t worked out for good.


4. Head On



This was shown as the great invention back in 2006. The commercial ads were put everywhere, which compelled consumers to go for it. The tag line said ‘apply directly to forehead’. It had no benefit for people. Even after research it was found that, if it is consumed in high ration, it becomes toxic. This was another flop invention.


5. Neck Pro


Nowadays, people suffer from different kinds of pains. Any kind of therapy ads, urges them to try the product. Neck Pro was aimed at relieving neck pain, but it devastatingly failed. This kit had a belt which has to be wore around neck and it had to be hanged with the help of a door. This turned out to be crappy. In vision of relieving neck pain, it troubled other body parts.


6. Leaded Gasoline



Lead was a petro-fuel additive. It was mixed with gasoline and was used for different purposes. Later, in 1996, it was discovered that lead is harmful for everything. Hence, it was banned.


7. Ford Pinto



Ford Pinto was a front engine, rear drive subcompact car manufactured and marketed by Ford. This car seemed like it had the tendency to explode. It caused 27-187 deaths, from 1971-1980. There were so many lawsuits filed against the car. This was due to, company that left no space for the heat to evacuate, hence it made the car to explode.


8. New Coke



Coca Cola was the giant soft drink company. In 1960’s , in order to compete with Pepsi, they replaced their original Coca Cola with the new Coke. Needless to say, everybody hated the new Coke. Hence, the company got back the message and bought back Coca Cola classic.


9. Olestra



Olestra was discovered as the substitute for fat. Hence so many packaged food used this ingredient. Later, it was discovered that the body is not supporting this ingredient. It had so many negative effects like, intense diarrhea and anal leakage. Hence, this was another reported failed invention.


10. Selfie Sticks



People in this era are so self obsessed, so much so that they wanted to fill their social media with pictures. Selfie sticks made it worse. It was invented for convenient usage, but it took another way round. People started taking pictures with the stick and those pictures looked ridiculous.
