10 Cutest Cat Breeds In The World
"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." ~ Robert A. Heinlein
It might be their playful nature, or their unassuming air of superiority that allows cats to get away with just about anything, and with such style that berating them is not an option. How can you get mad at your kitten playing with a ball of yarn, or calmly looking up at you with that confident smile-yawn on her face, despite the streak of chaos and destruction she just left behind in the kitchen? It's simply not possible.
1. Turkish Angora
Typically white in color, the Turkish Angora cat is a real beauty. No surprises for guessing that they originated in Turkey; their existence has been documented as early as the 16th Century, but they weren't introduced to western Europe until much later. Turkish Angoras have the sort of amazing long fur that you just want to bury your face in. This fur was considered so beautiful that it was actually a quality looked for during breeding, in order to improve the fur of the more well known Persian cats. Nevertheless, these cats are beauties in themselves, and they're still around today.

Often, they can be found with one or two blue eyes - usually this is a sign of deafness in cats, with the blue eye corresponding with the ear where the deafness occurs. Mother Nature is incredible!
2. Bengal

You would be forgiven for mistaking this breed of domestic cat with a wild cat. They are covered in a pattern of spots which look very similar to the spots you'd see on a leopard - the only difference being that these kitties are tens of times smaller! Nowhere else is the link between domestic and wild cats more obvious than with Bengal cats. It really is a breath taking, beautiful breed, and the kittens are just the cutest things that ever did walk this planet.
3. Somali

Yet another breed you've probably never heard of, Somali cats are very striking to look at. Most commonly, they can be seen in an unusual color which is a blend of ginger, brown and red. Very often, their manes and tails are much fluffier than their bodies, which makes for an interesting silhouette!
4. British Long Hair

If you like fluffy cats, then the British longhair is the breed for you. Way back in history, their breeding was linked with the Persian breed of cat, and this is quite obvious when you see how thick their fur is. British longhair cats come in a whole range of colors, but often they're seen in white, grey and black shades.
5. Norwegian Forest

The amount of fur on these pretty kitties is something else. It's quite a large breed anyway, but all the thick, long fur must double their size! This is one breed of cat where no matter what the coloring, they are all absolutely stunning animals. Both the kittens and grown adults have the sweetest faces which you just want to cuddle, making the Norwegian Forest the cutest breed of cat in the world.
6. Russian Blue

Russian Blue cats are not actually blue. They're actually grey, but 'Russian Grey' doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Russian Blues usually have quite short fur, but piercing green eyes. This really is one of the most handsome looking cat breeds in the world.
7. Maine Coon
Maine Coons are like the giants of the cat world. Males can reach up to 11 kg in weight, and they can grow to a length of around 48 in (120 cm) when they are adults. Owning a Maine Coon is like owning a (very furry) little lion. They are officially the largest breed of domestic cat, and given that they do have such long fur, they take some real looking after. However, it's not a bad thing. They're affectionate, chatty and loyal - yet still quite independent. In addition to this, no one can really deny how magnificent they look.
8. Birman

Appearance wise, Birman cats look very similar to the Rag doll breed that we're probably more familiar with. They also look a little like Siamese cats, but with long fur. Who knew it would be so difficult to differentiate between three different breeds of cat? Originally from Burma, Birman cats have beautiful, mesmerizing, piercing blue eyes. Their fur is long, cream colored and fluffy, and their ears, faces and tails are dark brown in color. Kittens and adult Birman cats are equally as cute as each other.
9. Egyptian Mau

Egyptian Mau cats are highly underrated. They're rarely mentioned, and hardly anyone knows about them. How is this possible, when they are so beautiful? This breed is like the silver version of Bengal cats. They do come in brown versions, but their true elegance is apparent when they have grey dots on silvery grey fur. Not to mention their adorable expressions, of course! Then again, maybe the reason why not enough people know about them is because they're hard to catch - out of all domestic cats, this breed is the fastest!
10. Munchkin

'Munchkin' is a cute name for a super cute cat. No cat called a 'Munchkin' could ever be a big, bruiser type like the Maine Coon - quite frankly, the two breeds couldn't be more different. The Munchkin is a relatively new breed of cat, which is characterized by very short legs. They look like tiny, mini versions of cats (which essentially they are) but with their short legs they're infinitely more cute than the average kitten.
